What decides the price and fitness of a glassware order?
Four things, and none of them is the shape of the item: Glass, Class, Graduation, Ground. Two pieces that look identical on a shelf can differ by an order of magnitude in price and be fit for entirely different work.
- Glass. Borosilicate or soda-lime. Borosilicate resists thermal shock and is what you need for anything that will be heated or subjected to rapid temperature change. Soda-lime is cheaper and appropriate for watch glasses, storage and cold work. Confirm which, per line.
- Class. For volumetric ware — volumetric flasks, burettes, bulb and graduated pipettes, measuring cylinders — the tolerance class is the specification. A capacity without a class is not yet specified.
- Graduation. Capacity range and graduation interval. A 100 mL cylinder graduated in 1 mL and one graduated in 5 mL are different instruments for the same money-looking price.
- Ground. For anything that mates — stoppers, joints, stopcocks, screw caps, adapters — the joint or thread size has to match what you already own, or nothing connects.

Note on glass type: the sub-range names indicate the material in one case — watch glasses are listed as soda glass. For every other line, confirm whether the item is borosilicate or soda-lime on the quotation. Do not assume a single glass type across the category.
What should you check before ordering glassware?

Do you supply plastic equivalents?
Yes, in a separate category.
